1. HTL single-ended encoders
Circuit
characteristics:
- threshold low = 3.6 V ... 5.6 V
- threshold high = 7.4 V ... 8.2 V
- hysteresis = 2.6 V ... 3.6 V
- current sink from encoder output high = 2.1mA
- current sourced to encoder output low = 0.6mA
- maximum input voltage (operation guaranteed, no destruction) = 40V
- maximum frequency <= ~ 1 MHz
2. HTL differential encoders 
Circuit
characteristics:
- threshold = 3.0 V ... 3.3 V
- current sourced to encoder output low = 16 mA typical, 30 mA maximum
- maximum input voltage (operation guaranteed, no destruction) = 36 V
- maximum frequency <= ~ 1 MHz
