This article refers to the "P038.001.E007 - RS232 to Ethernet adapter"

To connect a Technosoft drive to the PC through the Ethernet-to-RS232 adapter, the IP of the adapter has to be configured first.
The IP can be the default one (if the adapter is connected directly to the Ethernet port of the PC running the EasyMotion Studio software) or an IP from the network's IP range (if the adapter is connected to a switch/router).

To configure the adapter's IP a Hyper Terminal is required
- in Windows XP there's the Hyper Terminal from Microsoft that can be used to configure the adapter. The step by step instructions are presented in the attached manual;
- in Windows 7 or later a third party Hyper Terminal application should be used. One of the options is "RealTerm", which is free and can be downloaded from the following links: http://realterm.sourceforge.net/ or https://sourceforge.net/projects/realterm/

The "RealTerm" configuration is similar to the one presented in the adapter's user manual for the Hyper Terminal application in Windows XP.

After setting-up, power ON the adapter while keeping the "X" key pressed. When the menu appears, follow the instructions from the adapter's user manual.

Once the adapter's IP has been set, the drive can be connected to the adapter (through an RS232 cable) and the adapter to the network using a switch.

If the adapter is connected directly to the PC using a crossover cable, then the PC's IP has to be used in the network connection dialog. The IP will be the same as the adapter's IP until the last digits. For example, if the adapter has the IP: 192.168.19.12, then the PC's IP can be set to 192.168.19.10. For more details, see the attached archive ("Network settings - For Crossover cable.rar"), which presents all steps that need to be done in order to establish communication to the drive through the Ethernet/RS232 adapter.
