The difference between the MER and PCR registers [GB]

The protection bits are set in both PCR (0x303) and MER (0x8FC) with the only difference that the bits from PCR are reset as soon as the error condition disappears. The error bits from the MER register are cleared only when the FAULTR instruction is executed or when the drive is reset.
